Road Trips - Various

Over the years we have done numerous road trips in the USA & Canada. Most are lacking in photo documentation, but I wanted to preserve them for my own memories, so this page will feature a number of Google maps & a few pics.

1988 Grand Tour

In 1988 we bought a new Jaguar 12 cylinder cabriolet - a fine vehicle for a "grand Tour" of North America. Accomodation: a combination of tent camping & motels.

1997 California

In December 1997 we drove cross country in our 1995 VW Eurovan camper, visiting Santa Fe, Route 66, LA & SF - taking in half a dozen Hot Tuna Electric shows, including New Years Eve at the Fillmore.

Central-South USA: Texas & Back

We have also travelled Ohio-Texas -Louisiana-Alabama -Mississippi & points between several times - sometimes as part of a trip to Mexico, often as short 2 -3 week trips on their own. We have done every conceivable route, but especially enjoy driving the Natchez Trace. Most of these trips feature a visit to our long-time friends Peter & Linda in Austin.

Along the Eastern Seaboard to Florida & the Keys

We did many trips in the region between Toronto & Florida - the map below is a composite of our favourite stops & routes in this area.

In the summer of 89 we drove down to the Keys. We had just become scuba divers during our February trip to Thailand. In Key Largo we took our PADI advanced. We also bought an underwater housing for the Hi-8 video camera. We came back via New York City.

Our first trip in our first camper was to the Keys at Christmas 1991. Below you can see one of our favourite campsites at Long Key State Park, overlooking the water.

2003 Maritimes

In July of 2003 we drove our VW Eurovan camper through the Eastern Townships of Quebec, then the backroads of Maine logging country to Bar Harbour. From thence we drove into New Brunswick, taking ferries to Deer Island & to Grand Manaan Island - on both islands we camped. From there we went along the coast, through Fredericton to camp near Truro - then down the west coast of Nova Scotia to the fort at Annapolis,camping & eating seafood at Digby, looping down thru Yarmouth before heading back up to Halifax. In Halifax we received a business call that led us to drop the Cape Breton & P.E.I. section of the trip we planned & we bombed back to Toronto.
