MEXICO 1992
We bought our first VW Westfalia camper in October of 1991. After a Xmas tour of the Florida Keys as a maiden voyage, we took it south again in February of 1992, through Texas to Mexico.
Entering at Laredo, we drove south to Monterrey, east to Saltillo, then south to the "ghost town" of Real de Catorce, stopping in San Luis Potosi for the night, before heading off to Mexico City, visiting the ruins of Teotihuacan as well. Proceeding east past the volcano of Popocatepetl to Puebla, where we dined on chicken mole & toured inside a pyramid. Looping south then back west to Cuernavaca & Taxco, we headed for the coast at Acapulco, followed the coastline to over to Lazaro Cardenas, staying west of Ixtapa on a free beach, where the moon shone like silver on the waves and strange creatures scurried around the camper throughout the night... then up through Michoacan to Uruapan, resting in one of our favourites - the town of Patzcuaro, where we partook of the local whitefish specialty.Heading north, we stopped in Guanajuato & San Muguel Allende before heading back to Laredo & Texas.
